Jen's Gluten Free is more than a business, it's a community. I set out to design the site to combine a gluten free superstore with a social community seamlessly in one site. The Challenge -- well thought out user interface design so users can easily figure out how to both shop and manage their own blog and social profile as well as understand they can make friends and join groups (much like facebook).
The goal of this phase was to create a easy to use layout before anything. Sketches were color coded to indicate the order of each areas importance / focus. They where placed strategicaly to be noticed in this order as well.
If Jen was going to be a brand we had to make sure her personality was known. We had to communicate that Jen was a gluten-free goddess in the kitchen, knows her GF products and has valuable information to share. That Jen is the type of cool mom / supportive friend that bakes for neighbors. We wanted the site design to look as if we were in Jen's colorful kitchen and the design needed to make a connection to this theme.
